Pre Prep

The Pre-Prep provides a secure and friendly environment where children are encouraged to be confident, self disciplined and motivated. There is a strong emphasis on developing basic skills which will provide a firm foundation for future academic and social achievements. Housed in its own modern, fully equipped purpose-built building the children benefit from their surroundings and indeed from the enchanting playground in the Walled Garden.

The Early Years Foundation Stage provision in the Nursery and Reception classes is fully inclusive with the children learning through rich experiences and activities both in and out of the classroom. From year 1 the children are taught more formally benefitting from small classes and highly qualified teachers. Specialist subject teachers visit regularly from the Prep school and the children at the top of the Pre-Prep also benefit from using some of the facilities in the Prep school: the Computer Suite, Art Room and Britten Hall. The children also have lunch in the Prep school dining room. The children in Pre-Prep, but particularly Year 2, become used to the environment of the Prep school so enabling a smooth transition to Year 3 at the beginning of their Prep school career.

Sports skills are developed through regular PE and games sessions and there is a range of after school activity clubs offered throughout the school year including sports, ballet, art and crafts.
