Mars House Charity Day

On Friday, Mars held their charity day in aid of SSAFA, the organisation which supports servicemen and women from all the armed forces.

Pupils came dressed as their "Hero" for the day - whether that was a soldier, Einstein, or Florence Nightingale they all had a huge amount of fun.  A CCF contingent from Culford tested the children in a  range of activities and Director of Sport, Tom Vaughan was put through his paces when he was "kidnapped" and held captive before being rescued by some very impressive cadets!

The most exciting part of the afternoon however without doubt was the surprise visit from old boy Major Alex Brun of the Army Air Corps in his Apache organised by Richard Smith, Mars Housemaster.  Pupils, staff and parents were lucky enough to have the helicopter at school for nearly two hours and Major Brun kindly answered the hundreds of questions fired at him!  It was an enormous privilege to be so close to such a magnificent machine and the aerial display literally took our breath away.
