Finding Old Buckenham Hall

Leave Colchester on the A134 towards Sudbury (the road passes the station) and carry on through Great Horkesley, past Nayland, and past the junction with the A1071 to Hadleigh and Ipswich which goes off to the right. After about a mile you pass through Newton where you will see a golf course on your left. After leaving the village watch out for a turning to the right (signposted Waldingfield and Lavenham). Take this turning and turn right onto the B1115 at Great Waldingfield. Follow this road to Lavenham, carry on through the village and fork right almost immediately after the bottom of a slope, just before the old railway bridge. Follow the signs to Brettenham; the School is on the right, just before entering the village.

From Ipswich:

Leave Ipswich on the A12 heading towards Colchester. At a large set of traffic lights, near the Holiday Inn, take a right hand turn on to the A1071 to Hadleigh. On the Hadleigh bypass, after passing the Hadleigh town sign, take the A1141 right hand turn signposted Bildeston/Stowmarket. Follow the road through Bildeston until reaching the village of Hitcham. Turn left by the White Horse pub, on a sharp right hand bend. Follow the road to a T-junction and turn right. The School is a few hundred yards further on, on the right hand side.

From Bury St Edmunds:

From the A14 or the centre of Bury St Edmunds, follow the signs for Sudbury and the A134. Two miles outside Bury on this road, take the left turn to Bradfield St Clare/Cockfield Green, on a sharp right hand bend. At the next junction turn right and follow the road through the village of Cockfield Green. Passing Cockfield Bird Farm on the left, take the next right to Thorpe Morieux. From here follow the signs to Brettenham. At the cross-roads, the School gates are facing you.

From Stowmarket:

Follow the B1115 to Bildeston/Sudbury. In the village of Hitcham, take a right turn to Brettenham. At the T-junction near the church, turn left and follow the road through the village. The School is on the left just outside the village.
