28th April: Race Night

For the first weekend of the summer term, the boarders were rather unlucky with the weather. After all the rain on Saturday, the boys spent their games lesson in the cricket nets and the girls swapped between ball skills inside and some rather fun aerobics, known as “Wake Up, Shake Up”, where they were encouraged to sing along! Many of the boarders then enjoyed a swim in the rain afterwards!

Supper was a scrumptious battered sausage and chips in paper (fish and chip shop style!) followed by a night at the races. Mr Bruce and Mr Knight dressed up for the evening to become the dodgy bookies of ‘KnightBruce’. The children really got into the spirit of the event and enjoyed betting their OBH pounds on the horse of their choosing. While some children lost all their money on the first race others were lucky and the eventual winner was Edward Carr who won an admirable £270 from his original £40.
