Race Night

The boarders enjoyed another exciting evening, track-side at the horse racing. They had to think carefully about which horses they would back, in order to get the best return on their £50. Much excitement ensued as triumph and despair was experienced over eight thrilling races.

At the end of the evening the following punters came out as the prize winners.

3rd – Finn Milbank

2nd – Thomas Marriage

1st – Hugo Nogareda

Trip to Bury St. Edmunds, shopping, Greene King Tour and picnics in Abbey Gardens

On Sunday morning, the boarders crawled out of bed rather bleary eyed after the excitement of The Astronomical Ball and race night. Thankfully, the morning started a little later than usual and they were treated to a relaxed pyjama breakfast.

There were two important birthdays to celebrate and a large, very delicious, chocolate cake was brought out for Paula and Miss Bourke. After singing a very rousing happy birthday and eating a slice of cake together, the boarders got ready to go shopping in Bury. The mini buses were parked and we wandered to Abbey gardens with our picnic bags.

After buying ice creams, the children walked to the Market Place and the meeting place was rather conveniently next to Pound Land which seemed a very popular choice to find any favourite bargains.

The last stop of the day was The Arc which is certainly Mrs Warren and Mrs Drake’s favourite shopping centre. We arrived back at school in time for a quick relax in the School Room or a play in the cricket nets before supper of roast beef and Yorkshire pudding. The children were very tired at the end of such a busy weekend and many children very sensibly chose to go to bed early. Many thanks to the duty team for arranging such a fantastic weekend.

100% Common Entrance Success

Many  congratulations to our Common Entrance candidates who have all passed their exams and secured places at their first choice senior schools, with a high percentage of A and B grades in the results across the board. This year we are sending pupils to Harrow, Uppingham, Oundle, Rugby, Stowe, Framlingham, Oakham and Culford. This is a tremendous achievement by all concerned and we are extremely proud of the class of 2013. Our Year 8 pupils can now enjoy their final few weeks at prep school, revision free!
