We are delighted to announce that Oliver de Alwis (Year 6), Arabella Woo and Sienna Middleton (both Year 7) are the winners of the Speech Writing Competition.
All three winners will be reading their speeches on Saturday and will then cut the ribbon to officially open the new Astro! The judges enjoyed reading all the entries for the competition and were impressed with the humour and sincerity of them all.
Well done to all of you who entered.
And many congratulations to our winners!
Hawaii came to OBH and even brought a few tropical rain showers!
The children tucked in to various pizzas while sipping tropical mocktails.
Afterwards, for those who wanted to, they were spilt into teams and played volley ball followed by the limbo. We were very impressed with the children’s flexibility and ‘how low they could go’ and we did-n’t dare take part!
After church on Sunday we all bundled onto the minibuses armed with pocket money and a scrumptious packed lunch and drove to the South Suffolk Show. While we were there the children enjoyed wandering around the stalls and had great fun on the funfair rides. Despite the weather conditions the choir children sang beautifully.
We were all back at OBH mid-afternoon the children had some free time before tucking into roast beef.
Having trained very hard, Freya and Mia were selected for the Suffolk Hockey County U13 first team.
Yesterday at the East of England finals in Redbridge the team were victorious; a great achievement on a very hot day against Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire, Norfolk, Essex, Lincolnshire and Cambridgeshire.
This is particularly poignant as the girls were part of a winning team, giving Suffolk a well deserved win in a competition that had not been won by the county for many years.
We are delighted that Mia and Freya were able to contribute to such an important occasion. Girls hockey at OBH has gone from strength too strength in the past few years, the U13 girls hockey team having their first unbeaten season this year.
Come and see us at the South Suffolk Show at Ampton Racecourse on the 11th May.
Do come and join us at the Show where OBH will be at Stand L 7 next to the Countryside Ring.
The Choir will be taking their place at the Band Stand nearby, next to the Countryside Ring, performing from 1.00 p.m. to 1.45 p.m.
Year 7 had great fun Zorbing. The children were split into 3 different groups participating in all activities. The activities were zorbing on a lake, mountain biking around a beautiful trail through some woods, rip sticking down a hill, slip and slide and, of course, the main event zorbing down a hill. Those who dared it were left wanting to do it again!
While Year 7 were off site, Year 8 were able to do a couple of revisions sessions and have some down time be-fore their mocks. Year 8 will be able to go zorbing in their Leavers’ programme.
With the weather being so mild it has been great to see the children enjoying being outside. Even some rabbits and guinea pigs from the Ark were taken out to enjoy the grounds on a lead!. Children were having fun either at the cricket nets, cycling around the grounds, Rory’s place, playing tennis, football on the new astro and we even had a mixed rounder’s match which left a few boys confused with the rules.
