Congratulations to Daisy Minter who competed at the weekend at the Topthorn Equestrian Centre and won two rosettes, 1st and 2nd place:
On Sunday 21st September I went to Topthorn equestrian centre to try some show jumping on my new pony, Bunny. I did three classes, the first one being the height of 1’9’’ to 2 feet, the second was 2’ 3’’ and the one last was 2’ 6’’. In all of the classes there were about 7 or 8 competitors. In the first class I jumped a clear round which brought me through to the jump off which included 5 jumps from the course. This time the jump off was timed, so I needed to be as fast as possible to do well. This class I won by only one second! The second class was exactly the same course, with the jumps 3 inches higher. I also jumped a clear round which once again brought me to the jump off. This time I needed to be a tiny bit quicker, as I came second by one third of a second. In the last class (2 ‘6’’) the course was slightly different, but I had 4 refusals which eliminated me from this class. At the end of the day I ended up with two rosettes for my 1st and 2nd place.
A fantastic first weekend back at OBH!
Saturday night kicked off with a BBQ followed by a Year 7 v Year 8 water balloon catapult fight and a late evening swim.
After church on Sunday a group of children went black-berry picking and came back to school and made a crumble that was demolished at lunch time! During the afternoon the children enjoyed having a dip in the pool, riding their bikes, playing tennis and Doc arranged a football competition which, of course, was very popular.
Before the day came to a close the children went down to the out-door classroom to cook their own supper. The children were divided into groups and all successfully made their own spaghetti bolognaise using just one pot over a
Saturday night the double classrooms were turned into a member’s enclosure for the race night. The children welcomed the refreshments half way through as it was getting very competitive and rather lively watching the races! Theo Kaberry was the winner of the race night with a staggering win of £1855 OBH money.
Various activities took place for the children to participate in on the Fun Day Sunday ending up with apple bobbing and hunting for marshmallows in flour followed by a 40/ 40 game and a campfire.
Please can all Day children in Years 3—8 come in to school wearing their Sunday Best on Friday 19th September for the individual photographs. Pre-Prep children to wear their normal school uniform.
We hope many of you will join us for this evening where you get the chance to chat with your child’s form teacher about the year ahead. In order to help with transport on this evening, day children may be collected at 4.20pm with their prep.
