Bonfire Night and Fireworks, Out of Buckenham and Home Again, Quiz night

With the nights drawing in and the weather being rather more inclement, evening boarding at OBH has been centred around indoor activities. There have been plenty of clubs and evening activities to keep all of the boarders busy. The children have been playing board games and indoor multi-sports, as well as dodgeball along with dance classes, self-defence, cookery, sewing and zumba.

Fortunately at the weekend the weather improved and we had the wonderful bonfire and fireworks display run jointly by Brettenham Village and the OBH Friends and Family. It was a fabulous event. All of the children thought the fireworks were amazing and that the display was the best ever. Thanks must go to all those who helped either in the run up to the event or on the night. It was good to see so many of you there too, supporting the event. Afterwards we were warmed up by the hot chocolate and biscuits before relaxing in the common rooms.

The Remembrance Service on Sunday at Thorpe Morieux was well attended and we must commend the children who read the readings and poems so well, paying great respect to all who fell both in our local community and around the world. Special thanks should go to Jamie Dilnot who performed ‘The Last Post’ – a significant reminder of thesacrifices that were made for us.

On Sunday afternoon the boarders were off on their travels again. Navigation skills were put to the test around the ‘hills and vales’ surrounding the school. The boys and girls chatted merrily to each other and the staff during our 4 mile ramble. Those who shot ‘clay birds’ had to catch up if they wished to have tuck at the half-way point! Well done to all the children who had a great time getting muddier and muddier as they went……

In the evening, “The OBH Quiz” was created by the children themselves using our new IPADs with the assistance of Mrs Blackhurst. Great fun was had by all as each team was desperate to outwit the other and win. After all the excitement of an action packed weekend a chilled out film night was the order of the day!
