St George’s Day Celebrations & Jimmy’s Farm

Welcome back to all the boarders, new boarders and the birthday boys, Josh and Francis. The boys celebrated their big days with pizza and party food. This was followed by the customary screams when the cakes were cut and then demolished!
The unusual weather has seen extreme action after supper in the form of cycling, cricket, tennis, footy, golf and of course the culinary delights afforded to the staff after the classy cook group delivered some wonderful tarts…filled with jam. Shorts have been worn…briefly and I am sure that we will soon be able to bask by the poolside whilst enjoying a refreshing evening dip!!!!

On Saturday night, St George’s Day was celebrated with traditional bangers and mash before scones, jam and cream were consumed with great enjoyment. We then enjoyed some traditional pugilism with ‘Knock Your Block Off’ and ‘Gladiator Duel’. This provided great entertainment as the girls and boys fought gallantly against each other. Quoits and skittles were also on offer and there were squeals of delight when points were scored! Hot chocolate was then served to the hardy warriors before bed.
Church on Sunday at Brettenham, as well as the breakfast served by Year 8 pupils at Rattlesden before their service, was well received by all. The afternoon at Jimmy’s Farm was a hit all round and between the icy showers the children enjoyed extreme den building, sausage making and tasting. The marmite sausages proved to be a favourite and feeding the animals on the farm was highly entertaining as some lost their bags to the emus and ostriches.
A fun weekend was had by all and with warmer weather on the way we look forward to ‘Camping under the stars’ on Saturday 7 May. The boarders will need sleeping bags, roll mats where possible and warm pyjamas/clothes. Please could they bring them in to school in a clearly named plastic bag and place them on their beds on their return to school after the Bank Holiday. We look
forward to the South Suffolk Show on Sunday 8 May as well as the confirmation of many of our Year 7’s and 8’s.
We hope you enjoy the Bank Holiday weekend and would like to wish Marcus, Edward and Arthur all the best in their upcoming entrance / scholarship exams.
