Chinese New Year Celebrations – The Year of the Rooster, An adventure at Congo Rapids

We celebrated Chinese New Year with a fabulous Chinese banquet, and our Year 8 girls from China had kindly brought back some beautiful decorations, red money envelopes (which we put some yummy gold coins in), roosters in silk purses and taught everyone, including the staff, how to write their names in Cantonese.
We ate prawn toast, vegetable spring rolls, duck spring rolls, crispy wontons, sweet & sour chicken and beef in black bean sauce. And of course prawn crackers! There were a lot of very full tummies!

After supper, the children wrote their names in Cantonese, and then made Chinese dragons. After which we played the rooster run, which was a huge amount of fun!

On Sunday, seven of our Year 8 children served breakfast at the Family service at Rattlesden Church. They represented the school beautifully and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The rest of OBH attended the service at Brettenham Church.
In the afternoon we went off-site to the new adventure mini-golf park,
Congo Rapids at Ufford. Everyone had an amazing time and there were a lot of holes in one!
A chilled out evening with a trip to the sweet shop rounded off a
very busy weekend.
