BBC political journalist Edwina Simmonds

Mrs Simmonds came in to give the latest in the series of OBH World of Work talks. With the aid of a number of fascinating film clips, the BBC political journalist showed us what it can be like working as a journalist for the BBC. She spoke with enthusiasm about the excitement which a career at the BBC can bring and illustrated the ways in which each day can bring endless variety, unforeseen events etc. The need for a political editor to react to these and make major decisions (re stories to lead with, follow etc.) made the job sound wonderfully exhilarating.

There were lots of questions from the floor and it was clear that the talk had genuinely inspired its audience.
