The Masquerade Ball & visit to Ampton Racecourse

The Masquerade Ball on Saturday night was a huge success. The guests arrived in fabulous frocks and suits and many took advantage of our on-site beauty spa. Drinks and canapes were served on arrival and the magician performed lots of tricks as we all mingled and compared masks. The décor in the dining hall was amazing and the formal dinner sumptuous and all agreed the chefs had outdone themselves. We had a final show from the magician and the auction of promises be-gan. There were prizes galore, including breakfast in bed, pizza and ice-cream treats, a giant teddy and a space hopper to bid for! Lots of gold coins exchanged hands and there were lots of excited faces when they won their prize. After all this the disco began in the inner hall and the chocolate fountain and candy floss stalls were a huge hit in the drawing room. It was an amazing night!

Sunday breakfast was a treat, and after this we were off to church at Thorpe Morieux. A quick change and with our packed lunches in hand, we were off to the races at Ampton point to point. Clara Middleton, Ollie Topham-Smith and Nicholas Warren did a splendid job in the Paddock selecting the Best Turned Out horses which OBH sponsored. The sweetie tote was in operation as usual and the children all enjoyed seeing Francis Topham-Smith race in the Pony races.

A chilled out evening after an action packed two days with tuck enjoyed in front of a good film.
