Otto Bagshaw, Millie Clark, Elle Jeffery, Alex Meredith, and Ben Perry set forth to Gordonstoun School in Elgin, Scotland via City Airport at the crack of dawn for the annual Gordonstoun Prep School Challenge! The weather promised to be sweltering in the South but where they were headed was 10º cooler and thank goodness for that!
On arrival, they were introduced to their Year 12 host, Lizzie, who brilliantly looked after them for the entire weekend. They then went on to their first challenge of filling up a wheelie bin from a Fire Engine hose—not a particularly dry exercise and not helped by steady rain.! However, we excelled and came first—all boded well. The sun then came out for the rest of the weekend and the children completed a number of complex challenges, culminating in the Big Challenge of dousing the Devil with water who was chasing the Headmaster on the South Lawn!
It was an extremely busy weekend, where the children climbed the Climbing Wall, tested their fitness, tested their skills in the fabulous Design Technology suite, camped in the grounds (marks where taken off if there was talking after lights out!) and we were all treated to a wonderful performance of music, dance and drama from students at Gordonstoun on Saturday night.
OBH was delighted to come second overall having been pipped to the post by Orwell Park!
It was a tremendous weekend, the children were wonderful ambassadors for OBH and came away with having had a fun but challenging weekend, learning new skills over the three days.
