We are delighted that David Griffiths and his family will be joining the school for the next academic year, taking over a school in very good health from our current Head Tom O’Sullivan.
David is currently Head of Daneshill School, a well-regarded school near Reading, and was previously Acting Head at St John’s On-The-Hill, a Dean Close Foundation School.
He was the outstanding candidate from an excellent shortlist and we are very pleased that he was so drawn to OBH and the vision that the Governors have for the school.
He is married to Becky and they have three children, aged 7, 4 and 2. David and Becky are used to working as a team. Both have taught all age groups through to 18, so they have a clear understanding of the role of a preparatory school – David was Head of History at Haberdashers’ Monmouth School for Girls whilst Becky taught and was Head of House there.
David is focussed on academic standards and also finding the strengths of each child. He is himself a musician and sportsman, Becky is a musician as well as being an experienced debater looking forward to coaching pupils in the art of oratory.
There will be more about this in due course, but David is also undertaking a remarkable feat for charity this summer: he is doing 10 marathons on 10 consecutive days. On stilts…
We are arranging opportunities to meet them before they join but David remains Head at Daneshill School until the end of the Summer term and of course Tom is still very much leading OBH until then too.
