Ampleforth Experience

Nine Year 7 pupils visited Ampleforth College for a leadership and enrichment experience designed to help them with forthcoming scholarship attempts.

During their 24 hours at Ampleforth, the range of activities they experienced included a chess challenge (where the Captain of Chess played our pupils simultaneously), shooting in the CCF range,
a programme in the fitness suite, a ‘Dragon’s Den’ type challenge, a brilliant session working on interview techniques, and the opportunity to experience a maths lesson. They also enjoyed a full tour of the school with four Year 12 students, one of whom had attended the OBH Pre-Prep several years ago. They had a chance to visit the Abbey Church, Sports Centre, Art Department,
Performing Arts Centre, the Theatre, together with a boys’ and girls’ boarding house.

The accommodation in the Ampleforth guest house was extremely comfortable and the hospitality was marvellous. Many thanks to our hosts for such a wonderful time.
